Well Planning Engineer
About this role
A Well Planning Engineer is needed in Lagos to lead and coordinate well planning activities for drilling, completion and intervention in upstream oil and gas. The role requires extensive experience in well design and planning, coordinating multidisciplinary teams and ensuring safety, compliance and delivery of robust well concepts and execution plans.
What you would do
- Coordinate multidisciplinary well planning reviews and assurance activities.
- Integrate subsurface targets, trajectories, casing designs, completion requirements and logistics.
- Develop well concepts, basis of design and detailed plans for drilling, completion and intervention.
- Review technical deliverables for compliance with standards and requirements.
- Identify and mitigate technical, operational, cost, schedule and execution risks.
- Prepare schedules, cost estimates, risk registers, execution strategies and readiness plans.
What they are asking for
- 8–12 years of relevant experience in oil and gas, with upstream E&P exposure.
- Bachelor's degree in Petroleum or Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- IWCF/IADC certification desirable; professional membership or registration desirable.
- Proven experience in well planning, design, drilling, completion or intervention engineering.
- Strong knowledge of well engineering principles, documentation and operational controls.
- Excellent problem-solving, coordination, communication and organisational skills.
