Underwater Inspection Technician
About this role
Underwater Inspection Technician role with Scruples Resources, based in Lagos. The position involves performing underwater visual inspections of subsea structures and equipment using diving gear, ROVs, cameras and sonar, and preparing accurate inspection reports with findings and recommendations.
What you would do
- Conduct underwater visual inspections of subsea structures and equipment (pipes, risers, jackets, mooring systems, vessels, tanks and marine facilities)
- Operate diving gear, ROVs, cameras, sonar and other subsea inspection tools to perform assessments
- Identify and document corrosion, cracks, coating deterioration, marine growth, deformation, erosion, leaks, weld defects and other anomalies
- Perform dimensional and thickness measurements and other non-destructive testing where qualified
- Collect photographs, video, measurements and condition data for technical evaluation and report writing
- Verify inspection activities against approved procedures, drawings, specifications and inspection plans; maintain records and ensure adherence to HSE and quality standards
What they are asking for
- Degree or diploma in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil/Structural Engineering, Diving Technology or related technical field
- Relevant commercial diving or subsea inspection certification
- NDT certification such as UT, MPI, DPI or VT is advantageous
- Offshore experience in underwater inspection, marine construction, oil and gas, or subsea operations
- Knowledge of offshore diving, inspection and structural integrity standards; offshore safety and medical certifications may be required
- Proficiency with underwater cameras, measurement tools, NDT equipment, ROV systems and inspection software; strong report-writing and communication skills; ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
