Translation and Language QA Lead (Remote)

About this role

AIDHealth Inc. is seeking a remote Translation and Language QA Lead to oversee Hausa–English language work, including terminology management, quality checks, and transliteration tasks. The role is a full-time, remote position engaged as a part-time consultant, open to applicants who are native Hausa speakers with strong English writing skills.

What you would do

• Maintain the bilingual Hausa–English project termbase
• Review quotes in deliverables for accuracy, tone and register
• Transliterate Ajami content into Boko before translation and add cultural notes
• Conduct blind back-translation on a sample of quotes and on priority alerts to achieve 95% meaning equivalence
• Manage translation quality under tight deadlines
• Ensure precision and cultural sensitivity in translations

What they are asking for

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Linguistics, Translation, Hausa Studies or related field
• Native Hausa speaker with excellent written English
• At least 5 years of professional Hausa–English translation experience (research or media preferred)
• Preferred: Ajami literacy
• Preferred: translation experience in gender, health or religious content
• Ability to meet tight review deadlines and exercise cultural sensitivity
