Trainee Accountant

About this role

Samhays Limited (SHL) in Lagos is looking for a Trainee Accountant to support the accounting team with day-to-day financial tasks, including data entry, VAT returns, and year-end accounts and tax returns. The role includes training and resources to progress toward becoming a Chartered Accountant, with an expectation to qualify within three years.

What you would do

• Assist in preparing financial and management accounts for group accounts
• Help manage client expectations and deadlines
• Assist in preparing personal and business tax returns
• Carry out bookkeeping including journal postings and ledger reconciliations
• Process client records accurately using accounting software
• Prepare VAT returns and management accounts
