TIG Welder
About this role
The role is for a TIG Welder at Dangote Group, based in Nigeria. What you would do
- Perform TIG welding on various metals according to approved procedures and specifications.
- Fabricate, modify and repair piping systems, tanks, vessels, and structural components.
- Interpret engineering drawings, welding symbols, and fabrication sketches.
- Prepare joints and surfaces for welding and ensure proper fit-up.
- Inspect welds for defects and ensure compliance with standards.
- Operate, maintain and inspect welding equipment and consumables.
- Adhere to safety policies, PTW, LOTO, hot work, and PPE requirements.
- Ensure quality, dimensional accuracy and welding specifications are met.
- Maintain welding equipment and keep workspace in safe condition.
- Collaborate with maintenance team to support plant reliability and downtime activities.
What they are asking for
- National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Welding and Fabrication Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering or related field OR Trade Test Grade I, II, III in Welding/Fabrication/Mechanical Maintenance or related trade.
- Professional TIG welding certification is an added advantage.
- Minimum of three years of industrial TIG welding and fabrication experience in heavy industry or process plants.
- Experience in stainless steel pipe welding, equipment repair, and industrial fabrication.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and welding symbols.
- Strong attention to detail, safety consciousness, and teamwork skills.
- Willingness to work shifts and support plant shutdowns when required.
