Technical Assistant to Chief Operating Officer

What you would do

• Provide technical and analytical support on cement manufacturing and plant operations.
• Review plant performance across quarrying, raw material prep, kilns, clinker production, cement grinding, packing and dispatch.
• Analyse operating data to identify gaps, bottlenecks, reliability issues and improvement opportunities.
• Assist in evaluating technical proposals and improvement initiatives from country operations.
• Prepare technical briefs and recommendations for the COO.
• Monitor KPIs across Pan-African plants and consolidate performance reports.
• Support preparation for operational performance reviews and review technical presentations before submission.
• Document decisions and actions from reviews and maintain trackers for accountability.
• Support CAPEX monitoring, project progress reviews, and identify deviations in scope, cost or schedule.
• Consolidate data into management reports, develop dashboards and conduct root-cause analyses.

What they are asking for

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, chemical, process or industrial engineering (or related).
• Postgraduate degree (engineering, operations management or MBA) would be an advantage.
• Professional engineering or project management certification would be advantageous.
• 10–15 years of relevant cement manufacturing or heavy industrial experience.
• Hands-on exposure to cement plant operations, process optimisation, maintenance, production or engineering.
• Experience in multi-plant or multi-country operations desirable.
• Experience supporting senior operations leadership or corporate technical/operational excellence functions would be an advantage.
• Ability to analyse plant KPIs and translate data into actionable recommendations.
