Techinician, Mechanical L3&4

About this role

The role is for a technician at Dangote in Ogun, focused on fabrication, installation, maintenance, repair and servicing of mechanical equipment, instruments and structures used in the plant. The incumbent will work with Shift Technicians to identify faulty equipment, perform repairs promptly and follow maintenance SOPs. Responsibilities include conducting corrective maintenance, ensuring safety and PPE use, managing weekly tool inventories, handling work orders and data entry in ERP systems for spares, and supporting plant safety and environmental programmes. The position requires hands-on mechanical maintenance work and adherence to PM schedules, with emphasis on problem solving and accurate reporting of breakdowns. Candidates should be prepared to engage in breakdown response and to document work daily, including scrap removal and hazard identification.

What you would do

• Liaise with Shift Technicians to identify problems and perform repairs promptly.
• Execute corrective maintenance on assigned equipment and machines.
• Follow SOPs for maintenance and ensure safety precautions and PPE use.
• Take inventory of tools weekly and align with the original tool list.
• Perform work order repairs, inspections and adjustments.
• Replace minor fixtures in plant machines.
• Enter data into ERP system for spares and consumables.
• Maintain equipment cleanliness and tool handling for effective performance.
• Attends to plant safety, health and environmental programmes.
• Fill daily job checklists and file them properly, and remove scrap after maintenance.

• SSCE with 10 to 20 years of experience in a mechanical trade and Trade Test I.
• Trade Test II with 16 to 24 years of experience in a mechanical trade.
• OND in Mechanical Engineering with 2 to 5 years of relevant experience.
• Basic knowledge of cement production processes.
• In-depth knowledge of cement packing machines and procedures.
• Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose and repair equipment accurately and quickly.
• Problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Good relationship management skills.
