Structural and Civil Engineer
About this role
ADKAN Services seeks an experienced Structural and Civil Engineer to join its project development team in Abuja. The role covers structural design, civil engineering works, construction supervision, technical coordination, and quality control for building and estate development projects, with emphasis on high-rise, terraces, duplexes, and large estate schemes. The candidate should combine strong technical expertise with practical site experience and the ability to coordinate multiple project activities while ensuring safety, quality, cost efficiency, and timely delivery. The employer is a Nigerian-owned construction company focusing on projects within Nigeria. A professional registration with COREN or eligibility is advantageous.
What you would do
- Prepare, review and supervise structural designs for buildings and estates
- Carry out structural analysis for foundations, columns, beams, slabs and other elements
- Review drawings, calculations, specifications and reports for compliance
- Coordinate foundation solutions with relevant professionals based on soil work
- Supervise civil and structural works on site and monitor site activities
- Conduct site inspections to ensure adherence to drawings, specifications and quality standards
- Verify materials, workmanship and test results against project requirements
- Identify defects and suggest corrective actions
- Coordinate civil engineering works for estate development including access roads and drainage
- Prepare project documentation and support progress reporting and meetings
What they are asking for
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or related field
- 8 to 15+ years of relevant experience in structural and civil engineering
- Proven experience with high-rise buildings, terraces, duplexes and multi-unit residential developments
- Experience in estate development and associated civil infrastructure
- Strong knowledge of reinforced concrete, foundations, structural analysis and construction methods
- Experience coordinating multidisciplinary project teams and supervising contractors
- Ability to interpret architectural, structural, civil and building services drawings
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and structural analysis software (eg ETABS, SAFE, STAAD.Pro, SAP2000) as applicable
- Good communication, leadership, analytical and reporting skills
- Professional registration with COREN or eligibility is an advantage
