Staff Software Engineer - Consumer Revenue
About this role
Discord is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to contribute to the Consumer Revenue organisation. The role focuses on premium experiences and user identity across Nitro, Shop, Server Boosting, and related surfaces, aiming to grow revenue while preserving a strong free-user experience. It is a full‑stack product engineering position requiring collaboration with Product, Data Science, Design and other teams to deliver across Web, Android and iOS, from backend data modelling to user interfaces. The role involves leading complex initiatives, providing technical leadership, and prototyping features through experimentation in ambiguous problems. Applicants should have a track record of large-scale initiatives and strong full‑stack skills in React/React Native and Python, with a product‑minded, ownership‑driven approach.
What you would do
- Accelerate growth of existing revenue streams and lay foundations for new monetization opportunities across Nitro, Shop, Boosting and User Identity.
- Own complex initiatives end to end by refining requirements, creating technical specs, and delivering great user experiences with Design and Product.
- Collaborate with Staff Engineers and partners to align systems, products and long-term vision.
- Advise leadership on technical considerations and contribute to strategic planning for building and operating.
- Lead full‑stack work across Web, Android and iOS, setting and helping the team meet technical standards.
- Prototype new features rapidly and test ideas through experimentation in ambiguous problem spaces.
