Sous Chef - Latin American Cuisine
About this role
The role is for a Sous Chef at ALTO Rooftop Restaurant & Bar in Lagos, assisting the Chef de Cuisine with day-to-day culinary operations and leading the kitchen in the Latin American and Nigerian fusion concept. It serves as the second-in-command in the kitchen, taking on leadership in the Chef's absence and supervising the team to ensure quality and consistency.
What you would do
- Assist the Chef de Cuisine in executing the restaurant's culinary vision and concept.
- Supervise daily food preparation and service operations.
- Ensure dishes are prepared and presented to standard and maintain consistency in flavour and portions.
- Participate in menu development and recipe testing.
- Lead and motivate kitchen staff during service; train and coach team members.
- Monitor staff performance, foster teamwork and respond to guest feedback and dietary requests.

- 5-7 years of culinary experience in upscale restaurants, lifestyle venues, or international hotels.
- 2-3 years in a Sous Chef, Junior Sous Chef or Senior Chef de Partie role.
- Experience with Latin American cuisine is highly desirable.
- Willingness to work in fusion cuisine concepts; pre-opening experience is a plus.
