Solar / UPS Technician
About this role
Solar / UPS Technician role with Simba Group in Kano. The position involves maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, reconditioning and installing UPS systems (low and high voltage) and solar power installations, reviewing electrical drawings, preparing scopes of work, and coordinating with clients and the UPS team lead.
What you would do
- Maintain, troubleshoot, repair, recondition and install low and high voltage UPS systems.
- Review electrical drawings, prepare scopes of work and manage electrical projects; interface with clients regarding AVR/UPS status and report findings.
- Provide on-site recommendations on UPS and electrical systems, subject to ratification by the UPS team lead.
- Perform preventive maintenance on UPS and AVR.
- Install surge protection systems (Class-1, Class-2 & Class-1/-2 Compactable), earthing and lightning arrestor systems, and solar power systems.
- Conduct site audits to collect structural and electrical data for solar system design.
What they are asking for
- HND/BTech/BSc/BEng in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or Physics Electronics.
- 6-8 years of experience in the same role.
- Age not more than 35 years old.
- Electrical/UPS OEM training from brands such as Kstar/Liebert/Emerson, APC/MGE, Eaton/Powerware, Siemens, and ABB UPS (preferred).
- Proficiency with electrical diagnostic equipment and ability to read electrical drawings and schematics; knowledge of single-line drawings; UPS/generator interface.
- Ability to operate within division policy guidelines using independent judgement; comply with safety policies and provide on-the-job training as assigned.
