Software Engineer - Turso
About this role
Supabase is seeking a Software Engineer to join the Turso core database team. The role focuses on developing the Turso Open Source database and its Postgres compatibility layer, as well as maintaining Turso Cloud operations and improving scalability to support a large number of databases. The position involves working with customers and cross-functional teams, in a remote, async environment. Candidates should be comfortable with low-level systems, cloud production in AWS and Kubernetes, and Rust, among other skills. What you would do
- Drive progress of the Turso Open Source database, especially the Postgres compatibility layer.
- Ensure code reliability and establish systems to prevent regressions.
- Maintain Turso Cloud operations, including the Cloud API and data plane operations.
- Improve the scalability of Turso Cloud to support a much larger number of databases.

- Experience with databases or other high-stakes low-level systems (e.g., hypervisors, OS kernels, storage).
- Experience working with remote teams and Open Source communities.
- Experience with deterministic testing, formal verification, fuzz testing, and differential testing.
- Experience deploying, operating and debugging large-scale cloud systems (AWS & Kubernetes).
- Experience improving observability, reliability, and performance of complex cloud systems.
- Comfortable working in Rust.
- Comfortable with LLM-assisted development and evaluations.
- Comfortable working with embedded databases.
- Strong communication across technical and non-technical audiences.
- Wamiliarity with navigating ambiguity and moving quickly.
