Software Engineer - Java

Crown Interactive in Lagos is seeking an experienced Software Engineer specializing in Java. The role involves designing, developing, and maintaining Java applications for enterprise, SaaS, and public sector digital products. The candidate will collaborate with product teams, write clean code, conduct reviews, troubleshoot issues, and help deploy system features across the software lifecycle. What you would do
- Design, develop, and maintain Java-based software applications
- Collaborate with product managers, designers and stakeholders to understand requirements
- Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code following best practices
- Perform code reviews and provide feedback to team members
- Troubleshoot and debug issues to ensure performance and reliability
- Stay updated on emerging technologies and trends in software development
- Develop modules of the initial system plan and code advanced portions while delegating routine coding to juniors
- Test completed code modules with junior developers and fix issues for smooth deployment
- Plan and execute deployment of system features and monitor integration
- Identify user requirements and prioritise tasks across the software development lifecycle
What they are asking for
- First degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related technical field
- Minimum of 6 years' experience as a software engineer with Java
- Strong knowledge of object-oriented principles and Java technologies
- Experience with Spring Boot, Java EE, RESTful APIs, cloud-based architectures
- Experience with MySQL, SAAS platforms, enterprise platforms, DevOps
- Familiarity with SAAS application deployment and single sign-on
- Ability to lead a team and mentor junior engineers
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, communication and collaboration skills
- Experience with Agile development is a plus
- Experience in building power sector applications, inventory/asset management or payment systems is an advantage
