About this role
Shift Supervisor for the ammonia synthesis plant at Sterling Oil Exploration & Energy Production Company Limited (SEEPCO). The role oversees a shift team of operators and technicians at the Niger Delta site (Port Harcourt, Eleme, Bonny or Onne axis, or designated plant site) to ensure safe, reliable and efficient production.
What you would do
- Direct and supervise shift operations of the ammonia synthesis plant and related systems.
- Lead plant start-up, shutdown, emergency shutdown and trip recovery activities per operating procedures.
- Coordinate with the Central Control Room, field operators, maintenance and HSE to execute daily production plans and PTW activities.
- Monitor KPIs, production rates, energy consumption, catalyst performance and plant availability.
- Conduct shift handovers and toolbox talks; enforce HSE standards, PSM and statutory requirements.
- Mentor and develop junior operators; investigate deviations and incidents and implement corrective and preventive actions.
What they are asking for
- BEng/BSc or HND in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering or related discipline.
- 6–10 years of hands-on operations experience in ammonia, urea or syngas plants, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
- Proven ammonia plant operations experience in synthesis loop, reformer, compressors and cryogenic purification systems.
- Strong working knowledge of DCS platforms (Yokogawa CENTUM, Honeywell Experion or Emerson DeltaV), SIS and ESD systems.
- Experience with HAZOP, risk assessment and incident investigation methodologies.
- Valid right to work in Nigeria; prior experience in the Niger Delta or Nigerian fertilizer/petrochemical complexes is an advantage.
