Senior Technical Advisor – Global Health Security & Surveillance

About this role

The Center for Clinical Care and Clinical Research in Abuja is seeking a Senior Technical Advisor – Global Health Security & Surveillance to provide strategic technical leadership for a consortium programme focused on global health security, disease surveillance, outbreak preparedness and sustainable health‑system transition. The role acts as the principal technical contact for GHS and surveillance within the consortium, coordinating with government bodies and other partners.

What you would do

• Act as the organisation's primary technical focal point for global health security and surveillance within the consortium.
• Establish and sustain relationships with consortium members, government counterparts and technical stakeholders.
• Represent the organisation in consortium meetings, working groups, coordination platforms and programme review sessions.
• Lead the design, implementation, monitoring and continuous improvement of interventions for infectious disease detection, surveillance, preparedness and outbreak response.
• Support subnational surveillance, laboratory networks, sample transportation, Emergency Operations Centres (EOCs) and rapid response teams.
• Promote One Health integration and the transition of donor-supported activities into government-owned systems, including capacity building and knowledge transfer.

What they are asking for

• Master's degree or higher in Public Health, Epidemiology, Global Health, Health Systems Management, Infectious Disease, One Health, Laboratory Sciences, Veterinary Public Health or a closely related discipline.
• Medical, veterinary, laboratory science or other relevant clinical/public-health qualification will be an advantage.
• At least 8–10 years of progressively responsible experience in public health, global health security, disease surveillance, outbreak preparedness/response or health systems strengthening.
• Demonstrated experience working with government health institutions and multi-partner/consortium programmes.
• Strong technical experience in one or more of: integrated disease surveillance and response; global health security; One Health; outbreak preparedness and response; Emergency Operations Centres; rapid response teams; laboratory systems and diagnostic networks; infection prevention and control; health-system strengthening.
• Experience working at subnational/district/provincial level is highly desirable.
