Senior Structural Designer
About this role
Senior Structural Designer role in Lagos for a consultancy, focused on creating detailed structural designs and drawings for oil and gas and industrial facilities. The position involves reviewing design documents, coordinating with other disciplines, and providing technical support during fabrication, construction and commissioning.
What you would do
- Produce accurate structural design and drafting deliverables in line with project requirements.
- Develop structural steel detailing, connection details, supports, platforms, walkways, ladders, stairs and handrails.
- Prepare drawings for fabrication and construction.
- Review vendor drawings and incorporate approved information into structural models.
- Check work produced by junior structural designers and provide technical guidance.
- Resolve construction and fabrication queries and support multidisciplinary design reviews.
What they are asking for
- HND, Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or related discipline.
- Significant experience in structural design within oil and gas, petrochemical, refinery, LNG, offshore, marine or industrial projects.
- Strong knowledge of structural steel and reinforced concrete design and detailing.
- Proficiency with design software such as AutoCAD, AVEVA E3D/PDMS, Tekla Structures, STAAD.Pro, SmartPlant 3D or equivalent.
- Ability to interpret structural drawings, engineering specifications, design calculations and project standards; knowledge of applicable structural codes and standards.
- Experience with offshore structures, pipe racks, equipment supports, platforms, buildings or other industrial structures is advantageous.
