About this role
Fingerprint is seeking a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to own the reliability of production systems within an Infrastructure team. The role is hands-on, involving coding and infrastructure work, end-to-end ownership, and ensuring systems stay fast, available, and predictable under growth. You will work on observability, incident response, capacity and performance, change safety, and developer tooling, defining reliability targets for critical paths and collaborating with product engineering to make services operable by design. The company is 100% remote and serves customers from startups to large enterprises. Qualifications focus on extensive SRE or production engineering experience in cloud environments, and strong skills in systems, incident response, and tooling.
What you would do
- Own the reliability of core production systems end to end, instrument them, set targets, operate them, and be accountable for their behavior under real traffic
- Define and maintain SLIs and SLOs, integrate dashboards and alerts, and use error budgets to prioritise fixes
- Improve alert quality by reducing noise and ensuring timely detection of issues
- Lead incident response, investigate across boundaries, restore service, and write postmortems with actionable follow-ups
- Build secure, resilient, and cost-efficient infrastructure with attention to failure modes such as timeouts, backpressure, and blast radius containment
- Conduct capacity and performance work using real data, including load testing and headroom planning
- Improve change safety with progressive delivery, automated rollback, meaningful pre-production signals, and stable deployment practices
- Manage infrastructure via code and configuration (primarily Terraform) and apply consistent patterns across services
- Develop software and tooling to reduce toil and simplify operation for engineers who own services
- Run deliberate failure testing (game days, chaos experiments) to identify gaps before customers see issues
What they are asking for
- 6–10 years of experience in SRE, production engineering, infrastructure, or backend in cloud-based environments (AWS preferred) with production responsibility
- Track record of end-to-end ownership of a system from design to operation
- Hands-on experience defining and operating SLIs/SLOs and error budgets
- Strong incident management experience with leadership in high-severity incidents
- Knowledge of distributed systems failure modes in high-throughput, low-latency environments
- Fundamentals of cloud infrastructure including networking, load balancing, Kubernetes (EKS)
- Experience managing infrastructure as code (Terraform or equivalent)
- Proficiency in Go, Python, or similar production-ready programming language
- Fluency with observability tools (Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry) and dashboarding
- Experience operating Redis/ElastiCache in production and related considerations
