The role is for a Senior Registrar in Cardiothoracic Surgery at AMCE Abuja, a 500-bed hospital offering cardiac services. What you would do

• Perform and assist in major adult cardiac surgeries under Consultant supervision
• Lead the operating room team, ensuring aseptic technique and patient safety checks
• Manage postoperative care in ICU and wards, including haemodynamic monitoring and ventilator management
• Participate in surgical safety audits and quality assurance, and help develop standard post-operative pathways
• Provide 24/7 on-call coverage for emergent cardiac cases and triage initial management
• Supervise and mentor junior residents and fellows; support their training and development

• Medical degree (MBBS, MD, MBChB or equivalent) from a recognised institution
• Completion of a recognised residency in Cardiothoracic or Cardiac Surgery
• Valid medical licence and registration to practise as Specialist Registrar / Senior Resident
• Proven proficiency in performing and first-assisting in major adult cardiac surgical procedures
• Advanced knowledge of cardiopulmonary bypass management and postoperative critical care
• Experience in clinical research methodology and scientific writing; strong communication and mentoring skills
