Senior/Lead Engineer — Digital Asset Infrastructure

About this role

CapitalSage Technology Limited in Lagos is seeking a senior engineer at founding level to lead the build of a digital asset infrastructure from end to end. The role involves owning architecture decisions, coordinating with the founder and legal counsel, and shaping the product as it develops. What you would do

• Architect core digital asset infrastructure and regulated settlement flows
• Own end-to-end system design and architecture decisions
• Design an API layer for bank and enterprise integration
• Collaborate with legal/compliance to align system design with regulatory requirements
• Build for an evolving regulatory environment and scale the team beyond founding
• Develop custody, KYC/KYB, and compliance/reporting systems
• Provide guidance on custody and system design affecting licensing posture
• Work on systems that support audit, access control, and compliance
• Partner with stakeholders to ensure product meets regulatory expectations
• Contribute to long-term defensibility and licensing strategy

What they are asking for

• 7+ years in software engineering
• 3+ years in a senior/lead or founding-engineer role with end-to-end architecture ownership
• Experience building financial infrastructure (payments, settlement, ledgers or banking-adjacent platforms)
• Strong backend/cloud architecture skills (AWS or equivalent)
• Experience designing for audit, compliance, and access control as core requirements
• Working knowledge of blockchain/distributed-ledger concepts (wallets, custody, tokenization)
• Bonus: African fintech/payments experience or exposure to a live regulatory sandbox (SEC, CBN, or equivalent)
