About this role
Fingerprint is a globally remote company that builds device intelligence for online fraud detection. They are seeking a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to design, develop, and evolve systems that keep services fast, secure, and scalable. The role involves working across cloud architecture, deployment, observability, performance, and developer tooling, with leadership and collaboration across product engineering, security, and DevOps. It is a foundational, cross-functional position on the Infrastructure team with broad ownership of systems, tools, and practices supporting engineering and customer-facing products.
What you would do
- Own an infrastructure product or subsystem end to end from design to production operation.
- Define goals and success metrics aligned with company objectives and mitigate risks.
- Create technical designs from PRDs and requirements with an iterative approach.
- Build secure, high-performing, resilient, and cost-efficient infrastructure for various workloads.
- Design and ship software and developer tooling to reduce engineering toil.
- Manage infrastructure through code and configuration (primarily Terraform).
- Collaborate with product engineering to architect services for scale and resolve requirements with stakeholders.
- Participate in incident response and use systematic debugging across services.
- Improve monitoring and use operational data to propose stability and performance improvements.
- Approach work with a security focus and mentor engineers through reviews and guidance.
What they are asking for
- 6–10 years in infrastructure, platform, or backend engineering in cloud-based environments (AWS preferred).
- Experience owning a product or subsystem end to end (design, ship, operate, and manage outcomes).
- T-shaped with deep expertise in one or two areas and breadth across the system.
- Strong hands-on experience with infrastructure as code (Terraform or equivalent).
- Solid cloud infrastructure fundamentals: networking, load balancing, containerisation (EKS/Kubernetes), distributed systems.
- Proficient in Go, Python, or similar languages for production software.
- Experience operating Redis/ElastiCache in production (cluster/shard management, failover, memory eviction, scaling) is a strong differentiator.
- Familiar with observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry or similar) and incident management.
- Knowledge of software engineering best practices: version control, code reviews, tests, safe deployments.
- Strong written and verbal English communication; ability to document designs and review colleagues' work.
