Senior Electrical Engineer

About this role

A Senior Electrical Engineer is sought for a Lagos-based role focused on power generation and energy infrastructure projects. The position covers the full project lifecycle, from design and procurement through construction, testing and commissioning, and involves interactions with power regulators, utilities and statutory authorities for permits and approvals. The role requires leading and supporting electrical engineering work across projects, preparing designs for generation, distribution, protection and power-quality systems, and using design tools. What you would do

• Lead electrical engineering work across power generation and energy infrastructure projects throughout design, procurement, construction, testing and commissioning.
• Prepare and review electrical power system designs covering generation, distribution, protection, switchgear, transformers, metering, synchronisation and power-quality systems.
• Apply electrical safety, earthing, protection coordination and system reliability principles in designs.
• Utilise engineering and design tools such as ETAP, AutoCAD, Revit and PVsyst, and manage project and contractor activities.
• Engage with power-sector regulators, utilities and statutory authorities for permits, licences and regulatory approvals.
• Support or lead regulatory submissions and statutory documentation for power projects.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams to ensure project milestones are met.
• Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards across projects.

What they are asking for

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field.
• 8 to 10 years of relevant experience in power generation, energy infrastructure, utilities, EPC or renewable energy.
• Experience in gas-to-power, embedded generation or distributed power projects from design to commissioning.
• Experience with solar PV, BESS or hybrid renewable energy projects is advantageous.
• Familiarity with power-sector regulators, utilities and statutory submissions for power projects.
• Strong knowledge of electrical power systems, protection, switchgear, transformers, metering, synchronization and power quality.
• Proficiency with ETAP, AutoCAD, Revit, PVsyst or equivalent, and strong project and contractor management skills.
• Based in Nigeria; professional registration with COREN or NSE membership (preferred).
• Experience in one or more of: IPPs, solar PV, BESS, grid interconnection, protection and relay coordination, MV/LV systems, SCADA, energy metering.
