Senior Drilling Engineer
About this role
A Senior Drilling Engineer role based in Lagos for Terra Energy Services Nigeria Limited, responsible for leading drilling planning, execution and technical support to optimise performance while maintaining HSE and well integrity. The position targets experienced engineers with strong drilling design, well control knowledge and project coordination abilities across the oil and gas value chain.
What you would do
- Develop drilling programmes, well trajectories, casing and cementing designs and drilling execution plans
- Prepare cost estimates, time estimates and AFEs and create detailed drilling schedules
- Provide technical support during drilling operations and resolve operational challenges
- Lead or participate in DWOP sessions, risk assessments, technical reviews and pre-drill planning
- Monitor drilling performance to identify efficiency improvements and reduce NPT
- Coordinate drilling contractors and service providers to ensure safe and effective execution
What they are asking for
- Bachelor's degree in Petroleum, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering or related field
- 10 to 15 years of relevant oil and gas upstream experience
- Hands-on drilling engineering experience including well design and execution
- Experience in developing drilling programmes, casing/cementing designs and well trajectories
- IWCF or IADC Well Control certification preferred
- Strong knowledge of HSE, procedures and documentation standards
