Senior Drilling Engineer
About this role
Senior Drilling Engineer role based in Lagos for an experienced professional to lead drilling engineering, well planning and execution while ensuring HSE and well integrity. The position expects technical leadership across drilling programmes, well trajectories, casing and cementing designs, and operational support throughout drilling activities.
What you would do
- Optimise drilling performance and reduce NPT without compromising well integrity or HSE
- Prepare drilling cost estimates, time estimates, AFEs and detailed drilling schedules
- Provide technical assurance for drilling programmes, designs, procedures and operational decisions
- Conduct drilling engineering studies and evaluate improvement options for well delivery
- Coordinate with contractors and service companies to ensure effective execution
- Lead or participate in risk assessments, DWOP sessions, pre-drill planning and post-campaign reviews
What they are asking for
- Hands-on experience in drilling engineering, well design and drilling execution
- Strong knowledge of HSE requirements and operational controls
- Bachelor's degree in Petroleum, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering or related field
- 10–15 years of relevant oil and gas experience with upstream E&P exposure
- IWCF or IADC Well Control certification preferred
- Membership of a relevant professional engineering body desirable
