Senior Backend Engineer - Mobility
About this role
M-KOPA is hiring a Senior Backend Engineer for its Mobility division in Lagos. The role is initially a 12-month fixed term contract with potential to extend or become permanent. The job focuses on building event-driven microservices to support affordable transport for riders and entrepreneurs across Africa. The engineer will work across the full stack, contributing to architecture, production monitoring, and end-to-end ownership in a DevOps culture. The environment uses .NET/C#, Azure (with AWS/GCP experience welcomed), Kubernetes, and messaging systems like Service Bus, Kafka or RabbitMQ.
What you would do
- Develop and maintain event-driven microservices powering the mobility platform.
- Own components end-to-end from architecture decisions to deployment and monitoring.
- Collaborate with teammates and senior engineers to deliver high-quality code.
- Implement observability and monitoring using tools such as Prometheus and Grafana.
- Automate testing across all environments, including production.
- Apply infrastructure as code and DevOps practices in the development lifecycle.
- Utilise AI coding tools as part of the engineering workflow.
- Participate in continuous delivery and production readiness activities.
- Work within a DevOps culture, contributing to tooling and process improvements.
- Support deployment and operation of services on cloud and container platforms.
