Senior Backend Engineer - Asset Sales

M-KOPA in Lagos seeks a Senior Backend Engineer to build and operate distributed C# and .NET microservices on Azure, within an event-driven architecture at scale. The role covers end-to-end ownership from idea to production and iteration, with a focus on producing value and production data insights. What you would do
- Own and operate backend services end-to-end from idea through deployment and production iteration.
- Design and implement distributed C#/.NET microservices on Azure with Kubernetes.
- Work within an event-driven architecture and ensure system observability and reliability.
- Collaborate with distributed teams across time zones to deliver results.
- Utilise AI tools throughout the engineering workflow for design exploration, code generation, testing, and incident investigation.
- Contribute to production readiness through automated tests, SLOs, alerting, and deployment safeguards.
- Design for idempotency, retries, and proper handling of failure modes in services.
- Participate in on-call duties and use incidents to improve platform resilience.
- Apply continuous learning and seek feedback to improve systems and processes.
- Keep systems cleaner and more reliable after changes, following the Campfire Rule.

- Strong experience with C# and .NET development.
- Experience with event-driven systems and messaging technologies (Azure Service Bus or comparable like Kafka, RabbitMQ).
- Microservices experience, preferably on Azure and Kubernetes.
- Experience with observability tools such as Grafana and Application Insights.
- Comfort using AI tools as part of daily engineering workflow (design, code review, testing, incident investigation).
- DevOps mindset with on-call/production ownership.
