Securities Trader
About this role
The role is for a Securities Trader based in Lagos. The employer is not named in the advert. The trader will execute securities transactions, monitor market developments, manage client and proprietary trading activities, and provide market insights to inform investment and trading decisions. What you would do
- Execute client and proprietary securities transactions within trading limits and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor market movements, price trends, volumes, corporate actions and macroeconomic developments.
- Develop and implement trading strategies aligned with client objectives and firm risk appetite.
- Provide timely market updates, trade ideas and execution guidance to institutional, corporate and high-net-worth clients.
- Maintain relationships with clients, brokers, counterparties, regulators and market operators.
- Ensure trades are captured, reconciled, documented and reported per internal processes and market rules.
- Collaborate with research, sales, operations, compliance and risk management to support trade execution and settlement.
- Identify trading opportunities, liquidity conditions and market risks; escalate material issues promptly.
- Support business development by contributing to client acquisition, retention and revenue growth initiatives.
- Stay up-to-date with SEC rules, NGX trading rules, capital market regulations and industry developments.
What they are asking for
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business Administration or related field; postgraduate or professional qualification is an advantage.
- Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in securities trading, equities trading, stockbroking, investment management or capital market operations.
- Must be a SEC Sponsored Individual.
- Strong understanding of Nigerian capital market operations, SEC requirements, NGX trading rules, trade lifecycle and settlement processes.
- Proven ability to execute trades and manage market-sensitive information within risk and compliance limits.
- Professional certifications such as CIS, ACS, CFA or other capital market qualifications are advantageous.
