About this role

The Safety Marshal role at NutriK FZE in Kano, Nigeria involves supporting the implementation and enforcement of health, safety and environmental rules at the site. The position aims to maintain safe working conditions, promote safety awareness, prevent accidents and assist in responding to incidents and emergencies through monitoring, inspections, coaching, and enforcing safety procedures.

What you would do

• Enforce company safety policies, rules and procedures at all times
• Conduct routine site safety inspections in extrusion processing areas to identify unsafe conditions
• Ensure proper use of PPE and that machine guards are installed and effective; verify emergency stop devices are functional and maintenance follows LOTO requirements
• Stop unsafe acts or conditions, report violations immediately, and follow up with corrective actions
• Identify hazards, assist in basic risk assessments and job safety analyses, and recommend corrective and preventive actions; ensure safety signage and barriers are displayed and maintained
• Report accidents and near misses, assist investigations, document incidents, and participate in emergency drills and preparedness activities

What they are asking for

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, Environmental Science, Engineering or related field
• 2-5 years’ experience in HSE in a manufacturing or food processing industry
• Desirable: experience in extrusion, milling or warehouse operations
• English language skills
• Proficient in MS Word, MS Excel and Outlook
• Knowledge of basic occupational health and safety principles, PPE use and safety signages, emergency procedures and first aid basics, hazard identification, and use of fire extinguishers
