What you would do
- Prepare, attach and secure loads using appropriate rigging equipment for safe lifting and movement of plant equipment and materials.
- Inspect rigging gear such as slings, shackles, hooks, wire ropes and lifting accessories before use.
- Assess load weight and centre of gravity to select suitable lifting methods.
- Coordinate with crane operators and lifting teams during lifting activities.
- Assist in erection, installation, alignment and relocation of mechanical equipment and plant components.
- Ensure adherence to PTW, LOTO, safe lifting procedures and HSE requirements.
- Record lifting activities and inspections; report unsafe conditions or equipment failures to supervisors.
What they are asking for
- National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance Engineering, Civil Engineering or related discipline OR Trade Test Grade I-III in mechanical fitting, rigging or related trade.
- Professional certifications such as HSE levels, Working at Height, Certified Rigger, Crane and Lifting Operations, Banksman/Slinger are an added advantage.
- Minimum of three years' industrial experience in rigging, lifting operations, equipment installation or related heavy industrial work.
- Ability to read lifting plans and rigging drawings; good communication and teamwork skills; strong safety awareness.
