About this role
Proforce Limited in Ogun State is seeking an R&D Manager to lead the engineering design, product development and technical research team at Ode Remo. The role focuses on driving product innovation, vehicle architecture, armour integration, prototyping and continuous improvement across armored vehicle lines. It involves managing end-to-end design, testing and validation to meet military and automotive standards. The position is aimed at candidates with substantial automotive engineering or defence equipment design experience and strong technical leadership skills. The employer operates in defence and protective mobility equipment for government, corporate, diplomatic and private clients across Nigeria and Africa.
What you would do
- Set and execute the R&D strategy and product roadmap for vehicle design and mobility solutions.
- Lead end-to-end design, modelling, prototyping and testing of vehicle platforms and armour systems.
- Supervise CAD engineers, designers, analysts and prototype technicians to convert requirements into manufacturable designs.
- Oversee testing and validation activities, including FEA, ballistic simulations and field tests to standards.
- Ensure compliance with international standards (STANAG, NIJ) and automotive quality norms.
- Research advanced materials and technologies to enhance vehicle capability and production efficiency.
- Collaborate with production teams to ensure designs are manufacturable (DFM).
- Manage R&D project timelines, budgets, documentation and IP portfolios.
- Maintain technical leadership and provide strategic direction for military/defense mobility solutions.
- Coordinate cross-functional collaboration across engineering disciplines and production.
What they are asking for
- BSc/HND or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Mechatronics, Metallurgy, Materials Engineering or related field.
- 6 to 10 years of progressive engineering experience in automotive, defence equipment design, aerospace or heavy vehicle fabrication.
- At least 3 years in a managerial or lead research role within relevant industries.
- Strong technical leadership, problem-solving, project management, technical writing and strategic thinking.
