About this role
Based in Lagos, Nigeria, the R&D Supervisor - Instrumentation & Sensory Analyst oversees the laboratory's instrumentation and sensory evaluation programme. The role ensures equipment is calibrated, validated and maintained and that sensory testing is conducted rigorously to support new product development, product improvement and shelf-life studies. It collaborates with Product Development, Quality Assurance, Production and Marketing to translate insights into actionable R&D decisions.
What you would do
- Manage the R&D laboratory instrumentation and the sensory evaluation programme.
- Calibrate, maintain and troubleshoot instruments; manage calibration records.
- Ensure data accuracy and traceability in line with GLP and ISO/food safety standards.
- Plan and execute sensory studies and interpret results.
- Lead product development activities including profiling, recipe development and pilot plant trials.
- Supervise laboratory staff and sensory panelists; enforce HSE and 5S standards.
What they are asking for
- BSc or HND in Food Science & Technology, Chemistry, Biochemistry or related field.
- Postgraduate qualification an advantage.
- Professional certification in sensory science, laboratory quality management (ISO/IEC 17025) or instrumentation an added advantage.
- 3-5 years' experience in a food/beverage or FMCG manufacturing laboratory with hands-on instrumentation and sensory exposure.
- Prior supervisory or coordinating experience or readiness for first supervisory role.
- Working knowledge of GMP, HACCP and ISO standards in a regulated manufacturing environment.
