R&D Officer
About this role
Proforce Limited is seeking an R&D Officer to join its defence-focused research and engineering team in Ode Remo, Ogun State. The role involves supporting product development, technical research, 3D CAD modelling, prototyping, and testing across armored vehicle projects. The position targets candidates with hands-on experience in CAD design, mechanical prototyping, and vehicle engineering within an automotive or engineering setting. The company develops and supplies protective mobility solutions for government, corporate, diplomatic, and private clients in Nigeria and Africa. The successful candidate will work with production and quality teams to move concepts from concept to workshop fabrication.
What you would do
- Create, modify and refine 2D and 3D models, drawings and specifications using CAD software for vehicle components and armor kits.
- Assist in building, assembling and field-testing experimental vehicle prototypes and evaluate performance.
- Conduct technical research and testing on advanced materials to assess strength and protection capabilities.
- Analyse existing components to identify design flaws and improve structure, weight and manufacturability.
- Collect and document data from simulations and tests and prepare technical reports for management.
- Collaborate with production engineers, welders, machinists and quality control to ensure designs transition to fabrication.
What they are asking for
- Bachelor’s degree or HND in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Mechatronics, Metallurgy, Materials Engineering or related technical discipline.
- 2 to 4 years of hands-on R&D, CAD design, mechanical prototyping or vehicle engineering experience in automotive or engineering environment.
- Strong analytical thinking and spatial reasoning.
- Proficiency in CAD tools and ability to produce technical documentation.
- Teamwork and collaboration skills.
