Quality Control Officer
About this role
The role involves carrying out routine quality control tasks for sesame at the Kano or Sagamu site, including sampling, testing and recording results. It supports inspection of incoming and processed sesame, ensures adherence to specifications and SOPs, maintains traceability and sample storage, and assists with shipment release documentation. The officer works under the Assistant QC Manager or QC Manager and contributes to the wider quality function. The position targets individuals with knowledge of laboratory testing and quality control in agro-commodity or food sectors. Sunbeth Global Concepts operates in the sesame supply chain, with locations in Kano and Sagamu as applicable.
What you would do
- Conduct routine sampling of sesame lots according to sampling plans.
- Perform routine quality tests (moisture, foreign matter, purity, admixture, infestation) using approved methods.
- Record test results accurately in laboratory logs and ensure proper cross-referencing to lots or samples.
- Support inspection of incoming raw sesame and cleaned/processed sesame with visual and physical checks.
- Assist in verifying lot condition prior to acceptance or release.
- Monitor daily adherence to quality specifications, SOPs and testing protocols.
- Flag deviations from SOPs or specifications observed during activities.
- Maintain traceability of lots and samples from receipt to release or rejection.
- Retain and store samples with proper labelling and accessibility for reference or audit.
- Assist with final inspection and release documentation for export shipments and compile quality data/certificates.
What they are asking for
- HND or BSc in Food Science, Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Agriculture or related field.
- Relevant certification in laboratory practice or quality control is an advantage.
- Desirable: basic training or familiarity with sesame/agro-commodity quality parameters and lab testing practices.
- Minimum 1-2 years' experience in quality control or laboratory operations, preferably in agro-commodity or food processing.
- Prior exposure to sesame or similar agro-commodity quality testing is advantageous.
