Project Execution Engineer (Unix & Database)

About this role

Bluechip Technologies Limited in Lagos is seeking a Project Execution Engineer (Unix & Database). The role is for a hands-on engineer with strong UNIX/Linux and enterprise database management skills, focused on performance, reliability and operational excellence in mission-critical environments.

What you would do

• Administer UNIX/Linux server environments
• Manage enterprise databases to ensure performance, availability and security
• Monitor system and database performance and apply tuning as needed
• Implement high availability, replication and disaster recovery for databases
• Troubleshoot issues across UNIX and database platforms
• Automate routine system and database tasks using scripting

What they are asking for

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related technical discipline
• Minimum 5 years' hands-on UNIX/Linux system administration and database engineering experience
• Strong expertise in UNIX/Linux environments (AIX, Solaris or Linux distributions)
• Experience managing at least two enterprise databases (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL)
• Knowledge of database architecture, performance tuning, backup/recovery and high availability
• Experience with scripting and automation tools (Shell, Python)
