Production Supervisor
About this role
A plastics manufacturing company in Abia is recruiting for a Production Supervisor to oversee daily production activities at the Aba (Osisioma) plant. The role focuses on managing people, machines and materials to meet quality and efficiency targets with minimal downtime. The company produces household plastics, industrial containers and custom OEM products, with the Aba plant as the core production hub for injection moulding. The position requires hands-on experience in plastics production, including injection moulding, and managing a sizeable production team. The role reports to the Plant/Operations Manager and is a full-time position within the manufacturing sector.
What you would do
- Plan and execute daily and weekly production schedules based on sales orders
- Achieve daily tonnage/units targets with a focus on overall equipment effectiveness
- Reduce changeover time and maintain scrap rate below 2%
- Manage injection moulding, blow moulding and extrusion machines
- Coordinate with the maintenance team for preventive maintenance
- Maintain mold registers, machine logbooks and downtime trackers
- Ensure first-off approval, in-line QC, weight and thickness control
- Enforce SOPs for material mixing, heating temperature and cycle time
- Lead over 200 production staff across shifts, including training and discipline
- Prepare daily production reports and provide weekly updates to the Plant Manager
What they are asking for
- BEng or HND in Mechanical, Polymer, Chemical or Industrial Engineering or equivalent factory experience
- 3-5 years' experience in plastics manufacturing with hands-on injection moulding leadership
- Experience managing 30+ factory workers in Aba, Onitsha or Nnewi environments
- Hands-on knowledge of molds, hydraulics, heaters, and robots
- Strong Excel skills and basic ERP/production log systems
- Willing to live in Aba or relocate with a factory-first mindset
