About this role
PostHog is looking for a Product Manager with a background as a founder or product engineer, focused on observability. The role involves working with one or more small engineering teams, using data analysis and user conversations to own the commercial aspects of your product area. You will analyse growth metrics, understand user behaviour and churn, and assess pricing and feature opportunities across PostHog’s product suite. The PM operates in a highly autonomous environment, contributing to discovery, research, and cross-functional collaboration with engineers and customers. The company emphasises transparent communication, async work, and ownership of product outcomes.
What you would do
- Ensure the product has the right metrics for growth reviews and investigate changes in user behaviour and churn.
- Analyse data to identify patterns and inform prioritisation or deeper investigation.
- Lead research into competitors and the tooling landscape to inform pricing, feature parity, or new product opportunities.
- Conduct user interviews and gather feedback to inform product decisions and roadmap.
- Provide just-in-time product feedback for features and guide engineers on product direction.
- Collaborate with engineers and stakeholders to surface context needed for decision making.
- Own the commercial aspects of your product areas and monitor revenue-related metrics.
- Support packaging and pricing considerations for existing and new products.
- Stay proactive in exploring data deep dives or product ideas beyond routine growth reviews.
- Engage with customers and internal teams to ensure alignment with product goals.
What they are asking for
- Former technical founder or product engineer in a startup
- Strong product sense with ability to identify selling points and weaknesses
- Familiarity with business and product metrics (activation, retention, churn) and ability to write SQL or similar queries
- Proactive, organised and able to manage multiple threads asynchronously
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills in an async-first environment
- Hands-on experience with observability products and understanding of how engineers use them
