About this role
Rivy is seeking a Product Manager to identify and prioritise problems faced by business and customer teams, then translate those problems into product requirements for engineers. The role involves defining the product direction, specifications, and success criteria, with a mix of internal tools and occasionally customer-facing features. It is not a people-management position; engineering reporting lines remain separate. The PM will work with sales, operations, credit and customer teams, and may engage directly with customers and installers to understand issues. The role requires hands-on involvement from problem discovery to post-launch evaluation, including data analysis and delivering end-to-end solutions.
What you would do
- Observe business and customer teams to identify breaks or pain points.
- Turn findings into clear problem statements and priorities.
- Write specifications that engineers can implement and manage delivery with them.
- Analyse data and answer questions about loans, payments and funnels, using SQL.
- Define success metrics for features before shipping and evaluate post-launch impact.
- Collaborate with engineers and manage delivery in relevant tooling (e.g., Jira, Linear).
- Conduct research in person, including at customer sites or installer calls.
- Defend prioritised work and decisions when challenged.
- Engage with customers and installers to gather firsthand insights.
- Travel or spend time outside the office to gather useful research.
What they are asking for
- Minimum of 3 years as a product manager with ownership of shipped work.
- Experience at a senior level is welcome and valued.
- Evidence of starting from a business or customer problem and demonstrating impact.
- Comfort with SQL and drawing conclusions from messy data.
- Strong ability to write specifications and run delivery with engineers in Jira, Linear or similar tools.
- Independent researcher who performs their own investigations, including in-person research.
- Understanding of how Nigerians buy, borrow and pay, or demonstrated ability to learn a market quickly.
- Desirable experience in lending, fintech, energy, or products used by operations teams.
