Product Design Manager (Remote)

A remote, hands-on Product Design Manager role based in Nigeria, leading a small team of product designers responsible for design quality and outcomes across customer-facing products (POS, mobile, web) and operational tools. The role focuses on building design systems, ensuring accessibility and consistency across devices and networks, and aligning design with product and engineering. You will partner with product and engineering, hire and coach designers, set direction with measurable milestones, and advocate for user-centric, accessible design, including the use of AI tools. What you would do
- Partner with product and engineering to align design and build processes
- Hire, set expectations, give feedback, and develop designers on the team
- Define design direction for your area and create milestone plans with measurable outcomes
- Collaborate with product partners to ensure clear briefs and push back when needed
- Introduce and model responsible use of AI tools within the design process
- Conduct design critiques and reviews against a defined definition of done including accessibility
- Plan validation with customers, defining success metrics upfront and determining what to test before build
- Ensure customer journeys stay cohesive across teams and resolve conflicting designs before launch
- Maintain a single design system for journeys with variations managed within it
- Plan and staff system contributions as project work and manage delivery timelines

- 10+ years of product design experience with a portfolio of mobile and web work

- Experience running a design quality practice (critiques, reviews, definition of done) to improve shipped work
- 3+ years of experience managing product designers, including hiring and coaching
