Product Design Lead (Hybrid)

Chowdeck, a food technology company in Lagos, is seeking a Product Design Lead to oversee design across customer, vendor, operations and trust products. The role is a player-coach position focused on design quality, team growth, research practice, design system development and cross-functional collaboration. The successful candidate will report to the Product Executive and may work from a hybrid location in Ikoyi, Lagos. Responsibilities include guiding the design function, building processes and systems, and ensuring high-quality, coherent product experiences as the company scales. The role requires leading and mentoring designers, shaping design standards, and partnering with other functions from discovery to delivery.

What you would do

• Oversee the quality and coherence of product experiences across customer and internal surfaces.
• Lead and develop the product design team, including hiring and coaching.
• Define design principles, critique standards and decision quality.
• Own the design system and reusable interaction patterns.
• Strengthen the product research practice and evidence behind design decisions.
• Manage design operations, planning, documentation and cross-functional collaboration.
• Set a clear product design vision and translate it into team standards.
• Coach designers through discovery, prototyping, validation and delivery.
• Run critiques to improve work and sharpen designer judgement.
• Collaborate with functional leads to shape problems early and ensure adoption of design system.
