Principal Mobile Engineer (POS Terminal)

Moniepoint is hiring a Principal Mobile Engineer focused on POS terminals. What you would do
- Lead the design and architecture of POS terminal solutions for multiple platforms
- Maintain architectural documents and diagrams for POS systems
- Make architectural decisions on POS software and payment technologies, ensuring hardware compatibility
- Lead the development of POS-related applications
- Optimise system performance and security for payment processing and EMV protocols
- Participate in planning with product and engineering teams
- Conduct code reviews and enforce best practices for mobile and embedded systems
- Define and enforce software engineering practices across POS teams
- Ensure stability, reliability and monitoring of POS products and applications
- Mentor engineering teams and participate in hiring for POS/mobile/embedded roles

- 8+ years of experience in system design, architecture and development in the POS terminal domain
- Strong expertise in Android Native development (Java/Kotlin)
- Experience with cross-platform mobile development (e.g., Flutter) and familiarity with C/JavaScript
- Deep knowledge of EMV security protocols, chip transactions, encryption and key management
- Experience with hardware integration for POS devices
- Understanding of payment systems architecture and integration with processors and gateways
- Knowledge of software quality assurance principles in financial systems
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills
