Postgres Deployment Engineer
About this role
The role is for a Postgres Deployment Engineer to join Supabase and help manage the stability and deployment of PostgreSQL offerings. You will work with the PostgreSQL team and contribute to builds and deployments in the public supabase/postgres repository, packaging software for docker images and AWS AMIs. The position connects product and infrastructure teams to improve deployment reliability and upgrades, and involves ongoing collaboration across teams and with customers. What you would do
- Package software into the supabase/postgres repository using nix with flakes or Debian packaging as required
- Support the platform release system to enable self-service for developers
- Enhance GitHub actions, team tooling, and testing/release approaches
- Ensure timely PostgreSQL major, minor, and extension upgrades
- Identify and resolve production issues in customer deployments
- Contribute to best practices, tools, and tests to improve stability and reduce deployment risk
- Improve the utility and efficiency of PostgreSQL offerings
- Work with teams to address stability issues and apply insights to builds and releases
- Develop and expand tooling within the Supabase ecosystem
- Engage with customers to understand needs and address issues
What they are asking for
- 3+ years experience with PostgreSQL and its ecosystem
- Knowledge of Ansible, Nix (including flakes), Packer, Docker, QEMU/KVM, AWS and Kubernetes deployments
- Experience with Linux and macOS (aarch64) targets for builds
- Experience with conventional and Nix-packaged builds of C/C++, Go, JavaScript, and Rust projects
- Exposure to public cloud platforms and deployment methodologies
- Willingness to improve and expand development tools/stack and to work with customers
- Comfortable with an integrated packaging approach across platforms
- Willingness to teach engineering teams about Nix-based work and help troubleshoot the platform/postgres stack
