About this role
Baseline Media & Entertainment seeks a Political Presenter / Correspondent for Base TV and Base FM 101.1 in Lagos. The role involves researching, interpreting and presenting political developments and current affairs, conducting interviews and leading live political discussions across TV, radio and digital platforms, while upholding impartiality and credibility. The candidate may also support other broadcast and media activities as needed.
What you would do
- Research and monitor Nigerian and international politics; provide informed analysis for TV, radio and digital content
- Develop stories, reports, interviews, briefing materials and scripts for news and current affairs programming
- Attend political, governmental and public affairs events to provide coverage as required
- Present political and current affairs programmes on Base TV and Base FM 101.1; conduct interviews with politicians, officials, analysts and other stakeholders; lead live discussions
- Collaborate with production, editorial, programming and communications teams to create relevant content and ensure accuracy, balance and alignment with standards
- Support productions, events and other activities within the broader broadcast and media function as required
What they are asking for
- Degree or HND in Mass Communication, Journalism, Political Science, International Relations, Law, History or related field; NYSC discharge or exemption required
- At least five years of cumulative experience in broadcast journalism or political media, including a minimum of three years on-air as a presenter, anchor or correspondent
- Proven experience presenting on television and radio; demonstrable experience in political reporting or current affairs and interviewing political figures
- Strong knowledge of Nigerian and international politics; ability to research, analyse and communicate developments clearly; strong script writing and programme development skills
- Knowledge of the Nigeria Broadcasting Code, election coverage guidelines and basic defamation; familiarity with broadcast production tools; digital and social media presence; fluent English and clear delivery; ability to work in live and recorded environments
- Postgraduate qualifications and membership of recognised professional bodies, and related training, are advantageous; Screen Test: submit a three-to-five-minute screen test video including a camera presentation on a current national political issue and an unscripted interview with a named public official
