About this role
Supabase is looking for a Platform Engineer to join the Compute team. The role involves building and operating the core platform that provisions, scales, and provides compute for projects across multiple regions with high availability and low latency. You will design and run systems for multi-region compute workloads, autoscaling, project creation, and resource optimisation, while improving automation and observability. The position requires collaborating with other teams, participating in on-call rotations, and addressing both escalated issues and systemic platform improvements.
What you would do
- Help build and maintain the Supabase Cloud offering
- Design and implement systems to provision, scale, and manage multi-region compute workloads for Supabase projects
- Own the full lifecycle of compute orchestration: project creation, warm pools, autoscaling, resizing, and resource optimisation
- Improve automation and observability across the compute stack for high availability and performance
- Improve system architecture to reduce costs while balancing security, reliability and performance
- Collaborate cross-functionally to leverage compute as a core platform offering
- Participate in on-call rotations, incident response, and post-incident reviews
- Resolve escalated support issues and identify systemic issues across the platform
What they are asking for
- Strong software engineering skills (Go and TypeScript)
- Experience building and operating cloud infrastructure or distributed systems at scale
- 5+ years' experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS required; experience with GCP/Azure a plus) focusing on compute, networking and storage
- 3+ years' experience building custom Kubernetes controllers and operating large-scale clusters
- Knowledge of networking and multi-region infrastructure design
- Familiarity with Postgres
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools (Pulumi preferred; Terraform/CDK acceptable)
- Experience with QEMU, KVM, and NAS is a plus
- Experience on large production on-call rotations
