About this role
The Paralegal role at Renaissance Africa Energy Company Limited in Lagos supports the in-house litigation team in managing high‑risk and complex litigation and arbitration matters. It covers tasks such as legal research, document and matter management, witness preparation, court liaison, external counsel interface, and secretariat duties for litigation projects to protect the company’s interests and aid cost control.
What you would do
- Gather and coordinate information from line departments to prepare pleadings and other legal documents.
- Collate and manage evidence, documents and materials required for defence and responses to discovery and pleadings.
- Identify, contact and brief witnesses; arrange pre-trial briefings and deposition logistics.
- Prepare periodic reports and presentations on litigation for internal and external stakeholders; monitor external counsel performance.
- Maintain and secure Matter Management System (MMS) and Legal Document Management System (LDMS); file, index and retrieve materials.
- Liaise with courts, external counsel and vendors; assist with budgeting, invoice processing, and cost control; support due diligence and team projects.

- Minimum of five years’ work experience.
- Computer literacy with proficiency in data analysis and Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
- Strong written and spoken English.
- Experience as a litigation clerk or practice administrator in a law firm, and/or a diploma in law (advantage).
- Strong drafting and negotiation skills; ability to work under pressure and independently within a team.
