Operations Officer - Maritime
About this role
Starzs Investments Company Limited is seeking an Operations Officer – Maritime to support vessel operations, maritime compliance, safety management and fleet readiness in Rivers. The role targets candidates with a relevant Deck Certificate of Competency and hands-on vessel or shipping operations experience. A Nautical Science degree is preferred but not mandatory if the essential CoC and operations experience are satisfied. The company is a Nigerian maritime logistics provider serving local and international oil companies. What you would do
- Support the Designated Person Ashore in driving vessel compliance and HSE standards.
- Monitor the Safety Management System and report gaps or needed improvements.
- Monitor safety and pollution-prevention practices across the fleet.
- Support vessel and office inspections, audits and compliance reviews.
- Assist in ensuring compliance with health, safety and environmental policies and procedures.
- Ensure documentation and records are available for vessel and office audits.
- Maintain and review daily vessel reports and escalate operational issues.
- Monitor fleet certificates, expiry dates and renewal needs.
- Liaise with the Crewing Unit to ensure vessels are adequately manned according to Safe Manning Certificates.
- Prepare operational reports and maintain accurate records and confidentiality.

- Demonstrated vessel or shipping operations experience.
- A degree in Nautical Science is preferred.
