Operations Officer

About this role

Starzs Investments Company Limited, a Rivers-based marine logistics firm, is seeking a full-time Operations Officer. The role supports vessel operations, safety management and regulatory compliance, including monitoring the Safety Management System and maintaining fleet records. The candidate will assist with audits, reporting, and ensuring vessels are properly manned, with liaison to the crewing unit. The company provides marine logistics services to Oil Companies in Nigeria and internationally. The position includes handling documentation and contributing to safe, compliant maritime operations.

What you would do

• Support the Designated Person Ashore in driving compliance and HSE initiatives.
• Monitor the Safety Management System and identify corrective actions.
• Assist with vessel safety and pollution prevention activities.
• Conduct regular inspections and compliance monitoring.
• Support adherence to health, safety and environmental policies.
• Help ensure audit requirements for vessels and shore operations are met.
• Maintain daily vessel reports and escalate operational issues.
• Monitor the status and validity of fleet certificates.
• Liaise with the Crewing Unit to ensure adequate manning in line with Safe Manning Certificates.
• Prepare correspondence, reports and operational documents.
