Operations Geologist

About this role

An Operations Geologist role with Eni Nigeria (Nigerian Agip Exploration Ltd) in Abuja, supporting drilling, completion and production operations by integrating subsurface data to guide well placement and reservoir exploitation. The role involves real-time geological evaluation, decision making and collaboration with drilling and reservoir teams to ensure safe and efficient operations.

What you would do

• Provide real-time geological support during drilling operations and monitor wellsite data.
• Analyse cuttings, cores, mud logs, wireline logs and LWD/MWD data to evaluate formations and reservoir quality.
• Monitor gas readings, lithology, formation pressure and drilling parameters to identify changes and risks.
• Correlate geological information with subsurface models and offset wells for well placement decisions.
• Provide geological recommendations to Drilling, Reservoir Engineering, Geophysics and Well Engineering teams.
• Support geosteering and optimal well placement to maximise reservoir exposure and production potential.

What they are asking for

• BSc or MSc in Petroleum Engineering, Geology, Geophysics, Environmental Surface Engineering or related discipline.
• Significant relevant experience in the oil and gas industry.
• Experience in drilling and completion activities and geophysical data interpretation.
• Knowledge of reservoir characterisation, rock mechanics, sedimentology, stratigraphy and structural geology.
• Experience with data management and documentation of geological data.
• Strong problem-solving, teamwork, communication, decision-making and adaptability skills.
