About this role

The Nigeria Growth and Expansion Senior Associate leads One Acre Fund Nigeria’s expansion and business innovation efforts, identifying new geographies and revenue opportunities and guiding the end-to-end entry of new states from scouting to handover. The role is for a senior professional with cross-functional leadership experience in building commercially sustainable agricultural programmes for smallholder farmers, based in Minna, Niger State, with substantial field travel across expansion states.

What you would do

• Design the 5-year expansion and business innovation strategy for Nigeria, identifying new geographies, revenue streams and commercial models.
• Translate the long-term strategy into an annual plan with sequenced state entries, product trials, and validated business models with timelines and owners.
• Lead end-to-end entry of new states, including security risk assessment, field scouting, site setup, stakeholder engagement, first-season farmer enrollment, and handover to the Regional Lead.
• Manage the expansion calendar, coordinating security risk assessments, scouting, state confirmations, infrastructure setup and planting season windows to ensure timely, evidence-based entries.
• Manage a team of four permanent staff with clear goals, regular feedback and development paths, and provide cross-departmental coaching within the Programs Division.
• Develop and track KPIs across expansion states and trials; produce timely, actionable reports and communicate risks, progress, and go/no-go recommendations to the Head of Programs, Country Director and Steerco.

• Over 7 years of relevant experience, including at least 3 years leading cross-functional teams across multiple departments, with a track record in commercially sustainable agricultural programmes for smallholder farmers.
• Bachelor’s degree; postgraduate qualification preferred.
• Strategic thinking: ability to translate long-term ambitions into sequenced, evidence-based growth plans.
• Commercial acumen: experience identifying, designing and validating new revenue opportunities in complex or resource-constrained environments.
• Project management: ability to design, plan and run multiple complex projects to successful outcomes.
• Willingness to be based in Minna, Niger State, with significant field travel across expansion states for up to 18 months; English required, Hausa speaking strongly preferred.
