New Markets Finance Specialist (Bi-lingual)
About this role
The New Markets Finance Specialist, bilingual in English and French, based in Lagos, will lead the finance workstreams for launching new Jaza Energy markets, coordinating entity setup, banking, accounting systems, payroll and regulatory compliance, and transitioning finance responsibilities to in-country teams. The role supports finance operations across Anglophone and Francophone markets.
What you would do
- Lead finance workstreams for launching new markets to ensure readiness before go-live.
- Develop and track detailed finance implementation plans, monitor milestones and manage risks.
- Coordinate entity setup and regulatory compliance, including banking, tax registrations and accounting system setup with cross-functional teams and advisers.
- Implement accounting systems, policies, workflows and reporting templates for each new market before launch; standardise for Anglophone and Francophone markets.
- Establish robust internal controls and governance processes to support accurate financial reporting from market launch.
- Serve as interim Country Accountant during early market operations; support month-end close, treasury activities and mentor new finance staff.
What they are asking for
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field; professional qualification (CPA, ACCA) is an added advantage.
- 6 to 8+ years of progressive finance experience with exposure to multi-entity or multi-country operations.
- Strong understanding of IFRS, financial reporting, internal controls and finance operations.
- Experience managing month-end close, treasury, accounts payable and receivable, and cash management.
- Experience supporting finance projects such as new market setup, ERP implementation, process improvement or finance transformation initiatives.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks Online or other ERP/accounting systems, with strong Excel and financial analysis skills; fluent in English and French.
