Network Engineering Lead
About this role
Based in Lagos, Fieldbase Services Limited seeks a Network Engineering Lead to drive the design, deployment and ongoing management of its LTE network and forthcoming 5G expansion. The role requires deep expertise in mobile core networks, RAN, transport networks, IP/MPLS and related systems, with at least seven years’ experience in a Mobile Network Operator (MNO) or a Tier 1 vendor. The successful candidate will help build Fieldbase’s network engineering capability from the ground up.
What you would do
- Lead network strategy, design and architecture for LTE and 5G
- Design, dimension and implement EPC and 5GC core networks
- Plan and deploy RAN, including Band 40 (2.3 GHz) TDD-LTE with macro and small cells
- Architect hybrid backhaul using Starlink and terrestrial fibre for resilient, low-latency connectivity
- Manage deployments and vendor/partner relationships for Core, RAN and SIM/eSIM provisioning
- Establish NOC operations with workflows, KPIs, monitoring tools and SLAs to target 99.99% uptime
What they are asking for
- Minimum seven years' telecommunications engineering experience, including tenure in an MNO
- At least three years' hands-on Core Network engineering experience (LTE EPC and/or 5G Core)
- Strong core network expertise: LTE EPC/5G Core elements such as MME, SGW, PGW, HSS, PCRF
- RF planning and optimisation experience: frequency planning, cell site dimensioning, LTE design and Band 40 deployment strategies
- Proven experience leading or building a technical team with people management responsibility
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related discipline
