NDT Level II Technician
About this role
Role for an ASNT-certified NDT Level II technician to perform non-destructive testing on fabricated components, piping and related items in a fabrication yard. The work ensures compliance with approved drawings, project specifications, codes and ITPs as well as client requirements. Based in Rivers, it targets candidates with extensive NDT experience, preferably in oil and gas or heavy fabrication environments.
What you would do
- Perform NDT examinations in accordance with approved procedures and applicable codes and standards.
- Carry out examinations using VT, PT/LPT, MT/MPI, UT and RT where qualified, authorised and appropriately controlled.
- Verify that NDT equipment is suitable, calibrated and fit for use before commencing examinations.
- Identify, evaluate and classify indications in welds, materials and fabricated components.
- Interpret NDT results in line with approved procedures and acceptance criteria; identify non-conforming items and recommend repairs or re-examination.
- Prepare NDT reports and maintain traceability of weld numbers, welder identification, material identification, test locations and NDT results while maintaining confidentiality and integrity of inspection records.
What they are asking for
- OND/HND/BSc in Engineering, Science, Metallurgy, Welding Technology or related discipline; or relevant technical qualification.
- Valid ASNT NDT Level II certification covering applicable methods (UT, MT, PT, VT, RT where applicable) in accordance with ASNT SNT-TC-1A or employer/client certification scheme.
- 5–7 years of relevant NDT inspection experience, preferably in oil & gas, petrochemical, marine, construction or heavy fabrication environments; experience in an oil & gas fabrication yard is highly desirable.
- Experience inspecting carbon steel, stainless steel and other common fabrication materials; piping, structural steel and pressure-containing components.
- Experience working with client/third-party inspectors and maintaining inspection documentation.
- Practical knowledge of weld defects, welding processes and fabrication practices.
